Operators — one key, whole fleet

Flux Drive is built so that the operator does the security work once, and the pilots never see it. The heart of it is the operator pairing key.

The idea

Every Flux Drive holds a secret pairing key. A phone can only talk to a drive if it holds the same key — everything else in radio range is ignored, and everything on the air is encrypted.

An operator uses one key for all of their drives. That key lives inside your company profile in Time and Fuel, protected by the same encryption as the rest of the profile. When a pilot imports your profile, their phone can use every drive in your fleet — with nothing to type, nothing to brief, nothing to get wrong.

Setting up

Generate the operator key

In Time and Fuel Aviation, open your company profile, then Settings → Flux Drive. Tap Generate new key. The app creates a strong random key and shows it as a 28-character code.
Order drives with your key

Tap Copy code and include it (via a secure channel) when ordering. Your drives arrive already provisioned with your key — plug them into the FMS and they work. Additional drives later are provisioned with the same code.
Share the updated profile

Distribute the company profile the way you already do (encrypted profile file or company pack). Pilots who import it are done — the key travels invisibly inside.
Keep a pairing card as backup

Print the code and keep it with the aircraft documents. A pilot without the company profile (a contractor, a check pilot) can type it once at the prompt and their phone remembers it.

Managing the key

Treat the code like a key to the aircraft. Anyone who has it (and is within Bluetooth range of a drive) can send flight plans to your fleet. Share it only through the profile or a secure channel.

Rotating the key. Generate a new key in Settings → Flux Drive at any time. Drives keep their old key until they are re-provisioned, so plan a rotation: re-provision the drives, then share the updated profile. Pilots pick up the new key automatically with the profile update.

Departing pilots. A pilot who leaves keeps nothing useful unless they kept the profile — rotate the key if that matters for your operation, exactly as you would re-key a lock.

Private owners. No company profile? No problem. Use the drive's printed pairing card and type the code once, or set the code in your personal profile's Flux Drive settings for the same zero-typing behaviour.
