Support
Most transfer problems come down to power, distance, or Bluetooth. Start here; if you are still stuck, email support@tecav.com.au.
The app cannot find the drive
- Check the drive is powered — it runs off the FMS USB port, so the avionics bus must be on.
- Check Bluetooth is on and Time and Fuel has Bluetooth permission.
- Stay within a couple of metres of the drive. Anywhere on the flight deck is normally fine.
- Remember the drive shows nothing: no lights is normal, not a fault.
The app asks for a pairing code
- Neither your phone nor your active profile holds the key for this drive. Import (or update to) the operator's company profile, or type the code from the drive's pairing card once — the phone remembers it.
- If the code is rejected, re-check it against the card. Dashes and spaces are optional, and 0/O and 1/I/L mix-ups are forgiven automatically, so a genuine rejection usually means a different drive or a rotated key — check with your operator.
The plan is not in the FMS load page
- Did the app show transfer complete? If not, send again — an interrupted transfer never leaves a half-written plan.
- Has it been more than ten minutes since the FMS last read the drive? The plan erases itself for security. Send it again — ten seconds.
- Was the aircraft power-cycled after the transfer? Power-up always clears the drive. Send again.
- Some FMS units are slow to re-scan a returned USB device. Re-enter the FMS data/load page so it looks again.
The drive shows up empty on my computer
- By design. The drive destroys its contents at every power-up and shortly after each FMS load, so away from the aircraft it is always an empty USB drive. There is nothing wrong with it and nothing to see on it.
The transfer failed part-way
- Just send again. Every packet is verified and the plan is only published to the FMS after the whole file set arrives intact — the app also retries automatically.
- Repeated failures usually mean marginal Bluetooth range or the drive losing power mid-transfer.
Frequently asked
- Does it work with my dispatch software? Plans come from Time and Fuel Aviation. Routes can be imported into Time and Fuel from standard formats, then sent to the drive.
- Which FMS models? The first version is designed for the Universal Avionics UNS-1E — common in King Air, Citation, Learjet, De Havilland Dash 8 Q100 to Q400, Challenger 600/601, CL-215/415, PC-12, EMB-120 / ERJ-145, and Falcon fleets, among others. Later versions will cover any FMS that loads from a USB thumb drive. Send from Time and Fuel Aviation on iPhone, iPad, or Android. Tell us what your fleet flies.
- Can one phone serve several aircraft? Yes. One operator key covers the whole fleet, and the app simply talks to the nearest drive.
- Battery? None. It is powered by the FMS USB port and never needs charging.
- Certification? Flux Drive is a removable USB device, not installed equipment. As removable media it is not a certified aircraft part and is not certified avionics; to the FMS it is a standard USB drive. Verify every loaded plan in the FMS before flight.
