This is the privacy policy URL for Av Search on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The company policy that covers all TecAv apps is at tecav.com.au/privacy.html.

Summary

Av Search does not have an account, advertising, or analytics. TecAv Software does not receive your PDFs, search index, bookmarks, profile names, or the words you search for. We do not sell personal information. That data stays on the device unless you export a file or email one to us for support.

Data stored on the device

The app stores the following locally so a profile can be opened again:

• PDFs — the documents you import into a profile.
• Search index — built on the device from those documents, so search works offline.
• Bookmarks — saved pages, and the folders you put them in.
• Profile — the profile name and whether that copy can add or remove manuals.
• Language — the screen language, if you pick one instead of following the phone. Stored on the device. It does not change the documents.
• Optional model — a language-model file, only if you download it from App Health. Stored on the device.

These values are not sent to TecAv Software.

Search

Search runs on the device. The modes are ALL, PART, ANY, and EXACT. The words you type are matched against the index on the device. They are not sent to TecAv.

Optional model download

App Health can offer an on-device model. The download starts only after you confirm. The file is fetched from huggingface.co over HTTPS. Your manuals are not sent. The request does not include your PDFs, search text, bookmarks, or profile. That host can see the connection, including the IP address, because that is how a download works. TecAv does not receive the manuals, and TecAv does not receive a copy of the download. You can remove the model in App Health. Search works without it.

Encrypted profile files

Export and import use a .avsp file encrypted with AES-256-GCM and a password you choose (at least 4 characters). Only Av Search can open it, and only with that password. If you save the file to Files, Mail, or AirDrop, it leaves the app under your control. We do not receive it unless you email it to us.

What we do not do

• No account, sign-up, or TecAv cloud of your manuals
• No analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking
• No sale of personal information
• No location, contacts, camera, microphone, Health, or advertising identifier

Permissions

• Files — import PDFs, and import or export an .avsp file, when you choose one.
• Internet — only when you confirm a model download on App Health. Not used for search, and not used for advertising.

Apple App Privacy and Google Data safety

TecAv does not collect data from the app. PDFs, the search index, bookmarks, and profiles stay on the device, so they are not “data collected” by us.

The optional model download is a file from huggingface.co that you start. It does not upload your manuals. The answers to paste into App Store Connect and Play Console are on the store listing page.

Retention and deletion

Data stays on the device until you remove a profile, a document, a bookmark, or the model, or you delete the app, or you erase the device. There is no TecAv account to delete. If you have emailed us a file or a screenshot for support, ask support@tecav.com.au to delete that correspondence.

Children

Av Search is for adults. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
