Support — Av Search

This is the support page for Av Search on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Please include the phone or tablet model, the system version, the app version shown at the bottom of the search screen, and what you were doing when the problem happened. Do not send a profile unless we ask, and do not send its password in the same email as the file.

Common questions

Where are my manuals stored?

On the device, inside the profile you have open. The PDFs, the search index, and the bookmarks stay there. TecAv does not keep a copy. Uninstalling the app removes them. Export an .avsp file first if you want a copy.

Which search mode should I use?

Tap the mode button. ALL needs every word, each as a whole word. PART needs every word, and a word may be the start of a longer word. ANY needs any one of the words, as a whole word. EXACT needs the words together, in that order, ignoring capitals. Double-tap a result to open its original page.

I changed the language and the manual did not change

That is what it is supposed to do. The language changes the buttons and labels. The documents stay as they were written. The fourteen languages are the same set as Time and Fuel.

How do I move a profile to another phone?

Export profile, and set a password of at least 4 characters. The file is an encrypted .avsp. Open it on the other phone with Import profile, or from Files, Mail, or AirDrop, and enter the same password.

The file will not open

Check the password, including spaces. A different password will not decrypt it. TecAv cannot look inside an .avsp file or tell you the password.

I cannot add or remove a manual

That profile is edit-locked. The lock is set when the file is exported, with its own password. Unlock it in the app with that password if you have it. Bookmarks can still be changed on a locked profile.

Does it need an account or the internet?

No account. Search works with the phone offline. The internet is only needed if you confirm a model download on App Health. That file comes from huggingface.co. Your manuals are not sent. Search does not need the model.

The model download failed

App Health is the only place the download starts, and only after you confirm. It needs a connection to huggingface.co. You can try again later, or leave the model off. Search still works.
